A blue surprise, 24 hours from the super-g that will open the weekend of races in Beaver Creek. Despite not having taken part in the trials of the descent, even if with today's cancellation only one was disputed, Simon Maurberger decided to use the guaranteed fixed place for all the World Cup races, to start the first fast race of his career in the maximum circuit. The 24-year-old from the Valle Aurina did well in this specialty, last year on the path that led him to win the European Cup, and here, taking advantage of his presence in Colorado in view of the giant on Sunday, he eventually opted to deploy it, since Christof Innerhofer is also absent. The Azzurri at the starting gate, Friday evening starting at 6.45 pm (weather permitting) on the Birds of Prey, will therefore be Dominik Paris, Emanuele Buzzi, Peter Fill, Mattia Casse, Federico Simoni, Matteo Marsaglia, Riccardo Tonetti and Simon Maurberger.
