The transalpine federation has announced the renunciation of the trip between Argentina and Chile. In an interview with Ski Chrono, the champion from Courchevel has his say on many issues relating to the next season: he will be back on skis at the end of August in Les Deux Alpes.

Now it is official, even the French athletes will not take advantage of the winter conditions in South America, the usual appointment between August and September to prepare themselves in the best possible way.
Today, the SBB announced the resignation "as there are no health conditions", with the technical teams that should have trained in Ushuaia, while the sprinters would have been headed to Chile, on the snows of La Parva. The Equipe de France will train on their home glaciers as well as on the Swiss ones. Like Alexis Pinturault, who will return to skis at the end of August in Les Deux Alpes, and then tackle a big block of work in September, together with his teammates in Saas-Fee. The combined world champion talked about it to his Ski Chrono colleagues, in a long interview carried out last weekend in his Courchevel, after an event that saw Alexis riding a mountain bike between training and a bit of leisure, returned a few days earlier from a short vacation in Portugal.
"You have to be careful, even to take a picture with the fans that I try not to deny, but I believe we must also live - Alexis' words about the event in his country which involved only a few dozen people - Myself I had Covid, as you know, and theoretically I should have and cause fewer problems. Certainly in winter the utmost caution will be needed, also because a couple of weeks of quarantine would actually cost the season. Perhaps the situation was made more dramatic than necessary, also because it turned out to be an economic catastrophe.
I want to be clear: the danger exists and should not be underestimated like any disease, but we must live with it and manage it in the best way, protecting in particular our elderly people who are the most affected ".
Even without the trip to Ushuaia, Pinturault is confident for a good preparation: “The ski days are always the same, we simply did tests in June instead of spring. However, the differences exist, also because the companies have been closed and have not developed as in a normal period: we have therefore tried few innovations. After the skiing period in Val d''Isère (12 days on the snow, ed), I started again with a great physical work and this year, thanks to the collaboration of the Red Bull center in Salzburg, I have also included judo among the tasks to be done".
The transalpine champion feels “in the best years of his career, since 2019 I feel I have grown in various aspects. When you are young you feel very strong, but the defects are many; now I make less effort to perform the same movements, this helps a lot to be fluid on the ski, especially in slalom. My plans? They do not change, I will focus on giant and slalom which represent my base, then the speed will be useful for the combined ".
Pinturault expects a 2020/21 season “with many uncertainties in various aspects, for example the management of any positivity of athletes or staff members. I think there will be fewer races than expected, avoiding long journeys like those in North America, but I hope in any case, fairness will be maintained in the number of races between disciplines ”.
Finally, the 29-year-old from Courchevel spoke about the candidacy of Johan Eliasch, CEO of Head (supplier of materials for Alexis for years), to the presidency of the FIS for the elections expected in spring 2021. "We talked about the future of skiing, the calendar with too many races and also the possibility that the scraps are inserted as in biathlon. I think he could be a good president ”.
