A little less than two months after the return of the men's World Cup, here are the words of the race director Omar Galli. "Increased the standard for safety even further".

The temperatures are starting to be brisk, the winter season is almost upon us and in Bormio we begin to breathe the air of the Alpine Ski World Cup. Like every year, since 1993, except for a few rare exceptions, the first post-Christmas event for men for the top circuit, is held in the Alta Valtellina area with the Stelvio slope which becomes the undisputed queen of the white circus, with its “beautiful and impossible” track, one of the most technical and difficult in the world so loved by Dominik Paris.
Two races are also scheduled for the 2021/22 vintage: on Tuesday 28 December the downhill will be staged while on Wednesday 29 there will be a super-g. An event organized by the FISI thanks to the collaboration of Bodies and Institutions, with the Lombardy Region in the lead, and which allows the image of Bormio, of the whole Valtellina and of the regional territory to be promoted in Italy and in the world, together with their excellence. Waiting for the arrival of snow and even lower temperatures, necessary to allow the cannons to fire and produce the artificial snow to be placed on the track, and although there are two months left to the start of the two days of the World Cup, a Bormio has begun the preliminary operations to better prepare the Stelvio track which, thanks to the work of a well-established team, will be in perfect condition at the end of December.
And this will be one of the many dress rehearsals in view of the 2026 Olympic appointment, still far away but on which we are already working in terms of promotion and structures, which will see Bormio at the center of the spotlight since the Stelvio will be the theater of all men's Olympic competitions. “This year there will be no changes regarding the track - says race director Omar Galli - but we have worked to further increase safety, a factor on which we have always focused a lot.
We positioned the A nets and added a few more meters in Fontanalunga and in the final stretch, in correspondence with the Baita Pianta ”.
