There are 12 nominees for the FISI Athlete Award for 2017, now a traditional award that has been awarded for more than 30 years.

Today, with the opening of votes, the 33rd edition officially started. You can send your preference (just one name) to the email address atletafisi@fisi.org, and you do not need to vote twice because the system recognizes multiple submissions and deletes, if double, the most recent in time order.
The first phase of the vote will end in two weeks, on September 20, when the five most voted candidates will remain in the race, whose votes will be rescinded and voted for by 2 October. The winner will be announced during the "Azzurri Festival" that will take place at the Skipass Fair in ModenaFiere on Sunday, 29 October. Here are the candidate cards as reported by fisi.org.
SOFIA GOGGIA (FIAMME GIALLE) - The rising star of the Alpine Skiing Circuit has collected the first two World Cup wins on the PyeongChang track and a total number of podiums (13) that no other Italian skier has been able to to make it into a single season, thanks to which he finished third in the overall standings, second in the downhill and third in giant, with the gem of the bronze medal in the giants of the World Cups in St. Moritz.
FEDERICA BRIGNONE (CARABINIERI) - Three season victories definitely consecrate it among the tops of the Alpine Ski World Cup's women's circuit, as a giant specialist has become a polyvalent. Winner between the wide gates at Plan Corones and Aspen and the combined alpine Crans Montana climbed six times on the podium and finished fifth in the overall rankings.
DOMINIK PARIS (CARABINIERI) - The victory in the Kitzbuehel descent is worth a career, if it is the third of the career on the famous Streif (after the 2013 still downhill and that of Supergigante in 2015) counts even more. Trionfator also in the Aspen finals and five seasonal overall podium finishes for the second consecutive year in third place in the World Cup's descent ranking and for the third year in a row in the top 10 of the general.
PETER FILL (CARABINIERI) - For the second consecutive year of the Men's World Cup triumphant, he confirmed the historic title of the previous year as a continuation of performance. He climbed six times on the podium, taking the satisfaction of climbing the highest podium in the super-giant Kvitfjell. He finished the season sixth in the overall standings, his best place ever.
FEDERIC PELLEGRINO (GOLD FIRE) - The gold won in the Sprint of the Cross Country Skiing Lahti has allowed Italy to climb the highest pitch of the podium in the specialty for the first time in history, exactly one year after the the first historic success in the finals of the Sprint World Cup, where he finished last season with second place thanks to Falun's victory and second place for Val Mustair.
ALEXIA RUNGGALDIER - Revelation of the biathlon, climbed for the first time in career on the podium in the World Cup with third place in the individual of Anterselva, but accomplished the real enterprise by winning the bronze medal in ' individual of the Hochfilzen Austrian Championships, thanks to which he placed third in the final ranking of crystal ball specialties.
MICHELA MOIOLI (EXERCISE) - Second in the World Cup final snowboarding championship, bronze in the iridated race of Sierra Nevada, four overall podiums with the gems of the victories in Feldberg and La Molina and never beyond the ninth position in seven trials. At age 22, bergamasca has become the point of reference of the specialty and competitive on all types of tracks.
DOMINIK FISCHNALLER (CARABINIERI) - Double bronze medal in the Igls World Championships both in sprint and in the traditional single-track sled track test, the South Tyrol has two precious achievements in the Park City stages and PyoengChang circuit, ending the season in the sixth place in the final standings.
GRETA PINGGER (AMATEURSPORTCLUB LAAS) - For the first time in a career, it has succeeded in the overall ranking of the single natural track sledding female at the end of a striking duel with Evelin Lanthaler, thanks to seven podiums in as many competitions as the triumphs of Zelezniki and Nova Ponente stand out. Not happy is the gold medal in the World Cup of Dornei.
EDOARDO FRAU (EXERCISE) - He has been forced for the fifth time in a career in the World Ski World Cup by exploiting in his best way his experience and ability to compete at the highest level. Four seasonal podiums stand out in the Rettenbach giant.
VALENTINA GREGGIO - Queen of speed skiing, proved to be unavailable for the competition by winning the third consecutive World Cup with six net triumphs in six trials and World Cups, where he won gold at the Swedish resort of Idre .
DAMIANO LENZI (EXERCISE) - Absolute protagonist in the Alpago-Piancavallo World Championships with gold in the individual and in the Team race, silver in the vertical race and in the relay, to which four prizes are added in the World Cup of Impeccable from the victories in the vertical race of Val d'Aran and Prato Nevoso, which were third in the overall standings behind teammates Robert Antonioli and Michele Boscacci.
