An unusual Alpine Ski World Cup season. A season that has to deal with a global pandemic that is also forcing the winter sports sector to restrictions and anticovid measures such as races without an audience and serological tests for all athletes.
Some of them have already been affected by the coronavirus and have not been able to participate in some stages for the conquest of important points for the purposes of the specialty or general classification. Manfred Moelgg, Tommaso Sala and Giuliano Razzoli are just some of the athletes of the white circus who tested positive for covid and who had to take rest days before recovering and returning to competitions.
A pandemic that also led to the cancellation of some races such as the great classics of January, Wengen and Kitzbühel (among the most anticipated of the season) and, in November, the American stages: Lake Louise, Killington and Beaver Creek. An example is the women's downhill and super-G on 27 and 28 February which will be held for the first time in Val di Fassa, on the “La VolatA” slope, rather than in China.
