It will be a very intense week for the international alpine skiing panorama (and many other winter disciplines of FIS aegis) in the context of a very special autumn meeting of the FIS. Various decisions will be made via video conference, especially regarding the calendars of the next World Cup which, due to the epidemiological situation, have largely already been revised as regards the first two months of competitions; a work, that of the technical commissions of the International Federation, which will end on Saturday 3 October with the expected official announcements regarding a 2020/21 season of the white circus which will in any case start on 17-18 October with the giants of Soelden. Next Saturday will also be the day of the assignment, with online voting and the broadcast of the election visible in live streaming starting at 17.30, of the 2025 world championships; in contention Saalbach, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Crans-Montana, with the Austrians who appear to be the favorites, after losing the race with Courchevel-Méribel for the 2023 edition and with a fast that has lasted since 1991. The Bavarians, led by a testimonial like Maria Hoefl-Riesch, would like the world championship event back after having hosted it in 2011, while in the canton of Valais (the only World Cup hosted in 1987) they believe in it with a new and ambitious project.
