It's a Monday since ... European Cup. This time everything is ready for the start of a historic edition of the continental circuit, the 50th that will see the light between Zinal and Mayrhofen, after the postponement of the races in Scandinavia.
The Alps host the opening both for men, with two super-gs today and tomorrow on the Swiss snow, and for the girls involved in Mayrhofen, Austria, with the giant postponed yesterday (due to too much snow on the track) and it will be recovered immediately, then combining it with that of Tuesday.
Italy wants to play a role as a great protagonist and in the super-g of Zinal, starting at 11.30, Giovanni Franzoni will be the lighthouse of the blue team to compete with many athletes already seen permanently in CdM, by the Austrian Krenn who will open the race with bib n ° 1 to the French Sarrazin, at the start with the 7. Among them is Fede Paini, the first Italian to start with the 2, while Franzoni will start with the 9 to aim for the first success in the circuit, already close to last season then closed with the triumph in the super-g of the jr world championships in Bansko.
A total of 10 players are ready for the gate: with 22 Simoni, then Cason (38) and Franzoso (40), followed by Taranzano, Dalmasso, Kastlunger, Bendotti and Talacci.
On the other hand, at 11.15 am, for the first round of the female giant (at 1.15 pm the decisive round), with Ilaria Ghisalberti leading the national team after having done very well in this start of the season, from the second bib worn in the World Cup in Soelden, up to to victory in the FIS of Arosa. The Bergamo rider will start with the number 13, shortly after here is Vivien Insam (15), but in the thirty they also aim for a quality result Platino, Saracco and Fanti. Then here is the return to the race, after the two Levi slaloms, of Sophie Mathiou (bib 42) who wants to test herself between the wide doors, followed by Guerinoni, Craievich, Agnelli and Steinmair.
