The downhills of Lake Louise and Beaver Creek brought the Austrian and the Swiss, the holders of crystal balls, to victory. Two tough rivals for Goggia and Paris.

They hadn't won for a year downhill, despite having brought home the specialty crystal ball last season.
Nicole Schmidhofer and Beat Feuz marked the descents of Lake Louise (the bis) and Beaver Creek, in both cases for the second seasonal appointment; if the Austrian has not yet recovered the red bib worn practically for the entire 2018/19 vintage (she must recover 14 points from Ledecka), the Swiss has already reached 160 points for the first mini-break attempt.
They still seem to be the great rivals of Sofia Goggia and Dominik Paris, for the hunt for a coveted World Cup like the downhill one. "Nici" thus tells his fourth pearl in the Cup: "Where I lost it on Friday (in the final section, ed), this time I won it. I didn't see the ground well and I missed the lines on the first descent, this time everything was perfect. Lake Louise my living room? It almost looks like this (3 wins in the last 4 runs), but it took almost ten years to get this feeling. If they had asked me some time ago where I could have won, I would certainly have excluded this track. And instead ... ", smiles the Styrian, champion of super-g in Sankt Moritz 2017.
As for Feuz, a similar speech for the Birds of Prey, with five podium finishes in Colorado. "They were all close, it was not easy to make a difference - the words of the 32-year-old Bernese referring to the shortened descent - I can say that I had a great race from start to finish, I couldn't ask for better."
And with the triumph of yesterday, the ninth pearl in the descents of the World Cup (the Swiss won a total of 12 races, with 3 super-g), Feuz has hooked a myth of Swiss skiing like Bernhard Russi: "I have no certain of this record, every victory has a special flavor, but obviously it is even more so if you write a small piece of history. But comparing myself to a myth like Russians, it is really impossible for me â€.
