World dreams in two weeks, for an world championship event that Cortina awaits and hopes to be able to perform to its maximum potential, with a large audience on the track to experience the 13 races of a very intense program, never like before.
In fact, a bit 'of things change for the world championships in Cortina 2021 with the inclusion of the individual parallel, both for women and men, and with the Alpine combined races anticipated before the downhill tests, since they will be combined to the super-g and there will be no need for timed tests to take them (up to Are 2019 it has always competed with the combined downhill-slalom, but now the trend has also changed in the World Cup).
After the opening ceremony on 7 February, on Monday 8 the competitions with the women's combined team, with Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino (pictured together on the specialty podium, this year in CdM at Altenmarkt), are among the favorites in a test that will see the girls busy at 10.00 in the super-g on the Olympia delle Tofane and, from 13.30, in the slalom heats from Rumerlo to the finish line, on a decidedly simple slope.
Tuesday 9 the show is guaranteed by the double super-g: women engaged at 10.30 on the Olympia delle Tofane, men at 13.00 on the new "Vertigine", while on Wednesday 10 the girls of speed will still be on the track for the first test of the descent, while the men's sector will offer its second world race with the Alpine combined (1st round at 10.00 on Vertigo with the super-g, then at 13.30 the slalom from Rumerlo).
Thursday 11 and Friday 12 February double day only for the descent tests, at 10.00 and 12.00 (the day before the women will open, 24 hours after inverted times), then on Saturday 13 the great appointment with the women's descent on the Olympia delle Tofane where Sofia Goggia triumphed in 2018; start scheduled at 11.00, with the men who two hours later will take part in the last test on Vertigo, who on Sunday 14 will see them in the race at 11.00 for another of the most anticipated races in the World Cup.
Single day off on Monday 15 February, essential in case of cancellations and therefore recoveries, then Tuesday 16 restart immediately at 9.00 with the qualifications of the individual parallel, while the final phase will be held from 14.00 for both boys and girls , on the track built by the Rumerlo area on arrival as will happen the following day, Wednesday 17, for the team event scheduled at 12.15.
From Thursday 16, the technical competitions will start: thrilling opening with the female giant and a lot of Italy that promises for the battle on the Olympia delle Tofane (10.00 the 1st heat, at 13.30 the decisive one). Same times for the male giant of the following day, which will start from the "Labyrinths" variant, under the Duca d''Aosta refuge, and then join on the Olympia.
The big news of the "Drusciè A" will instead be the theater of the two slaloms, on a tough track that will test the girls first, Saturday 20 February with heats at 10.00 and 13.30, then Sunday 21 (same times) men for the grand finale.
