A great Wednesday of the European Cup dedicated to slalom.
This is what awaits us in a few hours with the men's appointment, the first specialty in the continental circuit, in Obereggen, for the 38th edition of the great classic which, not surprisingly, is defined as the "Kitzbuehel of the European Cup ”On that Maierl so demanding and which has seen so many champions triumph.
After the cancellations of 2019 and 2020, for very different reasons (race stopped in the 1st heat due to the very high temperatures that destroyed the track two years ago, while the pandemic situation blocked everything last winter), this time everything is really ready in the Latemar district for a race that will also count on prominent names, Clément Noel above all, but also Tommaso Sala (12th in the opening of CdM in Val d''Isère dominated by the French) and other Azzurri who will then repeat the day next on the "Aloch" of Pozza di Fassa.
Appointment in Obereggen set at 10.00 for the first heat, with the second scheduled at 13.00.
WOMEN IN THE AURINA VALLEY
The scenario of the Ahrntal Valley welcomes instead, exactly as in 2020, two female slaloms of the continental circuit.
Wednesday and Thursday (the 1st heat at 9.30, the 2nd at 13.00) will be staged the third and fourth race between the narrow posts for the women's European Cup opened by Emma Aicher's double at Pass Thurn. The 18-year-old German will not be in South Tyrol, but the participation is at a great level if we think that in the first sub-group we will have the three top blue, Martina Peterlini, Marta Rossetti and Lara Della Mea (who last year was first and second in the two slalom), but also the Czech Martina Dubovska, who won in the second round 12 months ago, Austrians of great quality such as Chiara Mair and Katharina Gallhuber, as well as Marie Therese Sporer, before arriving in Meta Hrovat, Elena Stoffel, the very young Swedish Hanna Aronsson Elfman, the American Katie Hensien, the Croatian Leona Popovic and the Slovenian Neja Dvornik.
And there will be many blue in the race, including Celina Haller, Anita Gulli, Sophie Mathiou, Carlotta Saracco, Vivien Insam.
