Girls and boys of the AOC committee at work to prepare for a season over which uncertainty reigns

Alberto Platinetti, coach who brought many guys from the Western Alps to the national teams, explains the work program.

Pandemic emergency permitting, very little is missing from the competitive debut of the girls of the alpine ski team of the FISI Western Alps Committee. What will happen or will not happen in the next few months on the tracks of the youth circuit no one can predict, meanwhile in the months of the dry summer preparation and on the glacier, the AOC girls have left nothing to chance. The coach who follows them throughout the entire season and prepares them in the summer months is Alberto Platinetti: "I am happy with the summer preparation - underlines the coach who in recent years has accompanied numerous athletes who have grown up in the AOC Committee - In July there was a great desire to get back to skiing. We found excellent conditions in Les Deux Alpes, where we organized two training periods a little longer than usual, stopping seven days for each period. The girls were in good physical condition. In August we then moved to Cervinia, in different snow and slope conditions, being able to take care of the technical disciplines in particular. In September, Martina Banchi of the Golden Team Ceccarelli took part in the meetings of the National Observations at the Stelvio and the other girls, also at the Stelvio, worked on both fast and technical disciplines ”. The AOC girls dedicated the month of October to training in giant snow in Saas-Fee on more winter snow and to a short period in Hintertux, dedicated to super-g. "We have overcome some small incidents suffered by some girls, who are now all quite well and are growing - is the comment of Platinetti - Our group is very young and the girls of 2003, like Martina Sacchi and Martina Banchi, drag the veterans and encourage them to always give the best of themselves. Even the 2004 athletes, Emilia Mondinelli, Matilde Lorenzi and Maria Sole Antonini, have a great desire to emerge. Covid-19 permitting, in the Solda races in November we will try to make the youngest debut and in the training of the next few weeks we will try to ski on artificial snow to adapt to a type of background that we will often find in the races of the Grand Prix Italy ". The Covid emergency in recent months has been dealt with thanks to the medical staff of the Committee, adopting all the necessary distancing and prevention measures. "We are lucky enough to practice a sport in the open air and with little possibility of contact, except in the use of the ski lifts - concludes the AOC home technician - The girls have adapted very well to the situation and follow the rules. The season will be special, but we will have to adapt and face the difficulties with serenity ”.
