On October 17-18 there will be no public on the Rettenbach glacier: this was confirmed by the head of the organizing committee Jakob Falkner at the "Tiroler Tageszeitung".

At first there was the desire to try, granting access to at least a part of the public who usually storm the Oetztal valley for the grand opening of the World Cup.
The giants of Soelden on October 17-18, already anticipated by a week to be able to organize all the anti-Covid measures necessary to ensure their implementation, will be staged without an audience: this was confirmed by the head of the organizing committee of the races on the Rettenbach , Jakob Falkner, interviewed in the columns of the “Tiroler Tageszeitung”: “There will be no spectators, it is a necessary condition based on what we have established with the FIS and the OESV”.
Four zones will therefore be set up to protect all the protagonists of the opening, the now infamous "bubbles" that will see athletes and staff on one side, the organization on the other, as well as the media and guests and sponsors (few ) who will be invited. All collateral events have been canceled (including the drawing of bibs and the award ceremonies), for what has always been the great opening party of the World Cup, also important for the various brands that presented all the news of next season.
In this 2020, however, everything is different and it will be necessary to adapt throughout the winter to have a "normal" World Cup.
