A France under contingent, but without any particular surprise considering injuries and absences. Tessa Worley and Alexis Pinturault will lead the transalpine national teams for the World Cup opening in Soelden, with only four girls (out of seven bibs available) competing on Saturday morning on Rettenbach.
The two-time world champion in specialty will be one of the favorites for the first seasonal giant, confident of having recovered the best condition and already triumphant in the Oetztal two years ago, preceding Federica Brignone. Together with Worley, we will see Coralie Frasse-Sombet, Romane Miradoli and Doriane Escané at the starting gate, while Clara Direz will not be there, suffering from pulmonary embolism only a couple of weeks ago and still in the pits.
Seven men competed instead, with eight places available and the absence of Leo Anguenot due to the shoulder problem accused in training in Saas-Fee by the young transalpine specialist; Alexis Pinturault will be the lighthouse as always, he twice winner in Soelden (2016 and 2019), last year right in front of teammate Mathieu Faivre, who completes the team with Victor Muffat-Jeandet, Thibaut Favrot, Cyprien Sarrazin (who has recovered after a fractured right ankle remedied in the summer), Rémy Falgoux and newcomer Jérémie Lagier, making their world cup first.
