Fundamental tests for the national team, already thinking towards Milan Cortina 2026: from suits to helmets, all possible improvements in terms of aerodynamics are studied.

Two days of aerodynamic tests for the male and female skeleton teams in Italy, at the beginning of this week at the Politecnico di Milano.
Under the guidance of the technical director Maurizio Oioli and the new fundamental grafts arrived for the four-year period that will lead to the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, namely Wilfried Schneider and Thomas Platzer who pushed for a series of innovations, the Azzurri worked in the wind tunnel, with the contribution of the technicians of the CONI Institute of Sports Science and of the engineers of the Politecnico di Milano, with in-depth analyzes at the Milanese University facility in order to evaluate the best customized aerodynamic configurations for each athlete with the own technical material.
Body positions, profiles and adjustments of sleds, helmets and suits: the resistance of every single detail and of the whole system is measured, while in the test chamber the air is blown at a speed between 100 and 130 km / h to reproduce what happens during the descents on the track. These tests are part of the long collaboration relationship between FISI and CONI, aimed at Milan Cortina 2026. In particular, already in 2021 at the same plant similar aerodynamic assessments were carried out with sledges, in order to obtain useful reference data.
The tests involved Amedeo Bagnis, Alessia Crippa, Alessandra Fumagalli, Mattia Gaspari, Valentina Margaglio, Marvin Moscara and Manuel Schwaerzer.

Dopo aver annunciato lo scorso marzo il ritiro dall'attività, fresco del leggendario bis olimpico, il 40enne fuoriclasse austriaco aveva avviato un progetto legato alla bicicletta, sua enorme passione, con l'obiettivo dei Giochi del 2030 nel ciclocross (che non è stato inserito nel programma per la rassegna sulle Alpi francesi). Sono cambiate alcune cose e ho capito di essere semplicemente uno snowboarder che si diverte tantissimo sui pedali. Punterà soprattutto ai campionati del mondo di Montafon che a marzo chiuderanno la stagione.
