Skeleton World Cup: Valentina gives way in the 2nd heat and closes away from the podium, led by the winner Kimberley Bos. Amedeo can smile for the result, in the match that sees the brace of the German landlords with Grotheer and Jungk.

The blue debut in the skeleton season, with the national team starting its World Cup adventure a few weeks behind the competition to work in training with a brand new technical staff (for a long-term project towards Milan Cortina 2026, is marked by two eighth places in the first round of 2023.
On Winterberg's gut, perhaps a little more was expected from Valentina Margaglio, however competitive with the big names in the discipline especially in the first run, which ended in 5th place, 4 tenths from Mirela Rahneva. In the second the Piedmontese messed up a bit, finishing 90 cents away from the winner Kimberley Bos, who mocked the Canadian by 6 cents, the same she had behind Rahneva in the middle of the race (with the leader still ahead by 2 cents until at the last intermediate stage, before overtaking the Dutchman).
The German stars have to settle for third, fourth and sixth positions (Janine Flock finishes fifth), respectively with Hannah Neise, 16 cents behind Bos, Tina Hermann (+ 0"22) and a comeback Susanne Kreher, best time in the decisive run . In Italy, 20th place for Alessia Crippa, the same obtained already in the first descent.
The men's race saw hosts Germany sign the awaited double, with Christopher Grotheer clear winner with 39 cents of margin compared to compatriot Axel Jungk, who in turn burned Matt Weston by a cent, who took away the podium to the second Briton, Marcus Wyatt.
Eighth place for a good Amedeo Bagnis, at 82 cents recovering a position in the second descent, with Mattia Gaspari 16th.
