Dream blue in tobogganing on a natural slope: Evelin Lanthaler leads the hat-trick in Val Passiria

The South Tyrolean champion gets her 30th World Cup victory right on her home track, beating Pinggera and Mittermair. Pigneter / Clara are the usual doubles dominators: triumph in front of the other blues Patrick and Matthias Lambacher.

A dream first day for the second stage of the World Cup which, on the “Bergkristall” slope of Val Passiria, immediately sees the Italian national sledding team on natural track dominate. Starting with the women's single, with an extraordinary hat-trick of the blue team: Evelin Lanthaler, hostess and obligatory favorite, achieved victory number 30 in the World Cup, overtaking Greta Pinggera by 68 cents, at the same time with the teammate halfway through the race, and Daniela Mittermair by 80 cents. Good 7th place also for Nadine Staffler. In the men's single, only Thomas Kammerlander, the very Austrian champion on his return to the Italian stage, prevented Patrick Pigneter and Alex Gruber from hitting the maximum goal: the two South Tyroleans had to settle for second and third place, late respectively 83 cents and 1 ”03, with Stefan Felderer fifth and Florian Clara ninth. Pigneter and Clara who in the early afternoon were unleashed in the doubles: yet another triumph and another blue brace, with Patrick and Matthias Lambacher second ahead of the Russians Porshnev-Lazarev. And Saturday is repeated.
