The secret? Instead of driving yourself crazy trying for the thousandth time to move your body forward, do the opposite: bring your feet back underneath you. By pulling your feet back, your shins press against the tongues of your boots again and your body automatically realigns into a centered position.
This movement is particularly useful during the transition between the start of the turn and the steeper section: even if you start out leaning back, bringing your feet back underneath you allows you to regain your balance, avoid “chasing” your skis and ski through the turn in a centered, more stable position.
A coordination exercise that doesn’t come naturally at first, but once mastered, it opens up new sensations and noticeably improves the quality of your skiing, even at higher speeds.
Try it on the snow: feet underneath your body, centered position, control. Enjoy your skiing!
