There is a lot of concern for next winter due to energy price increases. Not only in Trentino, but also in Valsusa, the cost of energy is worrying. Nicola Bosticco, CEO of Colomion S.sp.a, the company that manages the ski lifts in Bardonecchia, told ValsusOggi: "The summer went very well. People used the three cable cars that remain open during the season. summer, leaving the car downstream and avoiding environmental problems. For the winter there is a lot of concern for energy costs. Compared to past years, this summer's revenues from the plants have been 80% 'eaten' from the cost of energy. We have gone from 15/20% in the past to 80% of today's revenues burned by energy costs. So we are at a big loss. If you think about winter, I think that with the increases it is impossible to open systems and face the costs of snowmaking. I believe that it is an important political debate to be held, before winter arrives, which must involve the Piedmont Region and the operators of the systems. We ask ourselves how to meet these costs. For example , if bis every opening the 20 Bardonecchia ski lifts in winter, this year would cost 100,000 euros a day, just as an opening cost. It is therefore necessary to understand when to start and when to end the season, how many slopes to open, how many lifts to open. Our work is based on cable transport using electricity and therefore our business cannot be carried out with these electricity prices ".
