The president of the Italian Alpine Club has asked for clarification regarding the government decree for travel and activity in the mountains. "It is up to us now to behave correctly."

Questions posed by the CAI regarding the possibility of carrying out sports activities in the mountains, referring to the DPCM of last January 14th.
As reported by the presidency of the Italian Alpine Club itself, the Ministry of the Interior responded to the clarifications requested: in this regard, the guidelines expressed in the FAQ recently published on the institutional website www.governo.it (Section "Transfers") in the which, with reference to the different classification of the various regional territories, it is specified that in the yellow area it is possible to go to another Municipality, from 5.00 to 22.00, to do physical activity or sports, provided that it is in the same Region or autonomous Province (this the last limitation is foreseen until February 15, 2021).
In the orange area it is possible to go to another Municipality, from 5.00 to 22.00, to do sports only if this is not available in your Municipality (for example, if there are no tennis courts), as long as it is in the same Autonomous Region or Province; in the red area it is allowed to carry out sporting activities exclusively within the territory of one's own municipality, from 5.00 to 22.00.
In the light of what has been received, the Headquarters of the Italian Alpine Club specifies: A) in the yellow area the motor and sports activities have only the limit of the regional border or of the autonomous province; B) in the red area sports activity is limited to the municipal area only; C) in the orange area sports activities are allowed in another municipality, as long as they are in the same Region or Autonomous Province, subject to the mandatory condition that the conditions for the activity itself are lacking in their municipality.
Now - it is further specified - since the question was formulated specifically with reference to sporting activity in the mountains with all the methods promptly referred to therein, and the opinion received by the CAI does not exclude, as it happens for other activities, the possibility of completion, it must be considered that movement outside the municipal area (but within the region) is allowed if: 1) you do not reside in the red area; 2) the municipal area is not "mountain" and does not allow the sporting activities referred to in the question, if in the orange area; 3) sit in the yellow area.
It is emphasized that, to be allowed outside of one's own Municipality, it is only and exclusively the sporting activity and not the simple trip or walk, and that the movement must be limited to the Activity itself, with return to one's own Municipality immediately after practicing it. All this, of course, in full compliance with the other general rules relating to sporting activity, namely: individual exercise; respect for the distance of at least two meters AND strictly forbidden to gather.
"This clarification - observes the President General Vincenzo Torti - allows, in compliance with everything specified, to move from one's Municipality to go to the mountains to do sports in nature, but it will be up to each of us to do it with adequate preparation and correctness of behavior , to avoid that, in case of abuse or serious accidents, new restrictions are not imposed on an activity that is essential for all mountain lovers ".
