With the approval of the health protocol, the Regions ask the Government to rethink the choice not to open the ski lifts during the Christmas holidays to safeguard the economy of the valleys.

The news is of this hour that the Government intends to keep the ski slopes closed during the Christmas holidays, thus not allowing the white week during the holidays.
But just this morning during the Conference of the Regions, the health protocol for the safe use of ski lifts was approved.
The Regions, therefore, are now asking the Government to reconsider and to start the winter season from December.
In the communiqué of the Regions of the Alps we read: "Even with full awareness of the difficulties and uncertainties dictated by this difficult moment, the whole tourism system is working hard for a safe start to the winter season with the coordination of the Cableway Councilors of Valle d'Aosta, Piedmont, Lombardy, the Province of Trento, the Province of Bolzano, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. The first important step was taken this morning at the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces with the approval of the guidelines for the use of ski lifts in resorts and ski areas by amateur skiers. The document identifies all the measures to prevent the infection from SARS-CoV-2 to be prepared for the safe use of ski lifts within stations, areas and ski areas in the winter season. In light, however, of the news regarding the measures that the Government intends to adopt in the next DPCM, according to which the possibility of opening the cableways for the Christmas holidays is excluded, the Councilors of the Alpine regions ask the Government to review this choice which it would put an entire system in crisis, which brings considerable economic, labor and social inducements to the entire country. We are all well aware of the difficulties of the moment but we want and must look to the future with a positive attitude, aware above all of the importance that the ski industry has for the Italian economy. Thanks to the approval of the guidelines for ski resorts, we will be able to guarantee a safe start to the winter season. The ski season will be characterized by maximum attention to safety. Plant companies are strongly committed to implementing all the measures necessary to avoid risk situations as much as possible, preferring contactless tools facilitated by new technologies. Another front on which the system is working is to expand the possibilities of purchasing ski passes and season tickets online accompanied by delivery methods to the skier without going through the ticket offices and ski pass offices, thanks also to the synergies activated with the accommodation facilities ".
The President of the Valle d'Aosta Region, Erik Lavevaz. And the Vice President Luigi Bertschy announced: "Today, within the Conference of the Regions, the importance of the mountain systems rope and the whole economic world of snow. We must arrive at a synthesis with the Government to guarantee the safety of skiers and operators and to determine the best methods and timing for the start of the season, starting from the assumption that for regions such as Valle d'Aosta winter is one of the moments of greatest activity, for our entire economic system ".
