The Regions ask the Government for a guaranteed opening date of the facilities and immediate refreshments

A few days ago the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, announced the probable postponement of the opening of the ski lifts. The expected date was January 18.

It now seems almost official the postponement of the start of the winter season. Yesterday the topic was the subject of the Special Tourism Commission of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces. "We take note of the hypothesis announced by the government of a new postponement of the opening of the ski lifts (foreseen in the current Prime Ministerial Decree on January 18) and of the consequent increase in the crisis of the entire winter tourism sector of the mountain, and we ask the government to undertake a serious commitment towards this sector, guaranteeing certain, immediate and proportionate reliefs to the losses suffered ”, explain the representatives of the Regions. "During the work of the Commission, the requests that will be made to the government, in particular a guaranteed opening date, certain and immediate refreshments and proportional to the lower turnover of the season to the ski lifts and all related activities (such as shelters, hotels, ski instructors, services, etc.). Once a certain date has been established, it will be necessary to give continuity to the activity of the ski lifts in compliance with the limitations set out in the guidelines of the protocol approved by the CTS. The dynamics of the spread of the virus, and therefore the subdivision of the color zones, will determine the relative limitations regarding the mobility of people rather than the restriction of services. This is a sector that today suffers from a few billion of lost turnover and which risks, once the epidemic crisis is over, not having the strength to get up again. For this it is necessary to implement immediate and proportionate measures for businesses and seasonal workers ”conclude the representatives of the Regions.
