Clear and strong words in defense of the mountains and a tourism that risks big, those of the number 1 of the FISI, Flavio Roda, following the enactment of the Prime Ministerial Decree which imposed the closure of the ski lifts, pending those guidelines that can prevent the ban from remaining so until next November 24th.
Government decisions that, in the meantime, have forced the cancellation of the event at Skipass, the winter sports show that was supposed to be held next weekend. "An appointment that has always represented the meeting point of all the realities related to mountain sports, which are open to the public, in view of the new season - said Roda in a press release issued by the Federation - It is a it's a pity that the 2020 edition has been canceled, but the numbers of the contagion speak for themselves.
We adapt, bearing in mind, however, that a great effort must be made immediately by the Government, the Scientific Technical Committee, the Regions, to which the matter has been entrusted, so that the guidelines are defined as soon as possible to allow the reopening also to tourists. of the ski resorts. Already today, the Federation and the other players in the mountain sector are working to prepare a common document to be submitted as soon as possible to the attention of the CTS ”.
Roda continues: “The world of winter sports guarantees work for hundreds of thousands of people, with a significant induced on the country's GDP. In addition, in our sport it is impossible to get infected on the slopes, given the equipment that every skier wears to protect himself from the cold. Attention must be paid to the base of the facilities and in the shelters, but these are situations that are similar to entering a supermarket or a bar: there are very specific rules and it is enough to respect them.
I therefore repeat what I said a few days ago. Winter sports must be open to everyone again, also because the same high-level competitive activity is based on the basic activity, on the work of the ski clubs and ski instructors who, by growing the little ones, create the conditions for create the champions of tomorrow. All in maximum safety and in an open and healthy environment ".
