Sondrio, a vademecum and a regulation scheme for the safe use of snowmobiles

The prefect of Sondrio, Salvatore Rosario Pasquariello, set up a discussion table in February on the issue of the safe use of snowmobiles.

The work of the confrontation table for the safe use of snowmobiles was concluded in Sondrio, which will lead to some restrictions. Two distinct working groups have been set up: one coordinated by the territorial school office, with the task of developing and offering young people and students training / information opportunities by experts, the other, coordinated by the prefecture, with the '' task of investigating the technical-legal aspects of regulation of the use of snowmobiles and proposing initiatives, also of a regulatory-normative type, to collect the reflections and solicitations coming from the experience gained in the field. A vademecum was therefore produced for dissemination in schools and a model regulation scheme that was transmitted to all the municipalities of the province, to offer institutions the opportunity to equip themselves with a useful tool to regulate safe use. of snowmobiles and their circulation. The draft regulation provides for the possession of the municipal authorization and civil liability towards third parties, to be of age and to have at least the B1 license, the maximum speed limit at 30 km per hour, the obligation to wear a helmet, lights on and keep to the right as much as possible. Furthermore, hefty fines, withdrawal of the municipal license plate or the seizure of the vehicle are foreseen. The result of the work was sent to the government for evaluation and regulation at the national level.
