42% of Italians love the mountains, but less than half winter sports

42 percent of Italians attended the mountains and one in three regularly go there on vacation one or more 'times a year, but only 16 percent participate regularly in sports. And 'the findings of the conference, which took place this morning in Rome for the presentation of the survey opinion poll Italians and the mountain: new opportunities' for tourism and sport, sponsored by the FISI.

The research has shown that alpine skiing is the discipline most practiced, even if they are particularly attractive cross-country skiing, sledding and board.
70 percent of respondents said they look happy winter sports competitions on television more than half of the sample has criticized the lack of attention the media devote to national samples of the Italian winter sports. The Super-G world champion, Christof Innerhofer, speaking at the presentation of the research, will foster the success of Italian athletes in the competitions of World Cup entice the public to go over mountains and through sports.

"This is a potential market - said of Cosimo Finzi AstraRicerche - huge and sparsely used and is therefore a clear need to expand the provision of training and opportunities to 'test' of the sport, not forgetting that the application is not only the younger part of the population but also extends to age and mature late.
The question is, should be offered as the mountain people want a more easy, economical and suitable for the whole family (especially children) for a season that lasts long. "Potentially that emerges from the interviews to members of the FIS and the Ski Club, 85% of alpine skiing, but would like to experiment with the alpine ski, the freestyle, snowboarding and even grass skiing and cross country skiing, as well the fact that some sports 'minor' are not known even to part of the enrolled FISI.

"The research - said John Morzenti, President FISI - has provided us with important insights for strengthening the initiatives of our Federation to the public, the lovers of winter sports and our members. Based on the resources available to us not fail to work hard along the information received. I will, however, to underline the huge potential that emerging from the search for the mountains and the economy in the opposite direction for the development of winter sports at the amateur level and the racing at various levels, who can not find answers in a strong collaboration and convinced systemic initiative between the national and local institutions, the world of sports, tourist accommodation and private entrepreneurs. To understand what to do and how to simply look at the good practices put in place by the Alpine countries around us, first of all the 'Austria but also Germany, Switzerland and France.
By, for example, taxes that affect the energy costs of the lifts, you could pass on the savings is in the best of them, both in reducing costs for athletes, thus creating a virtuous cycle that could benefit all protagonists. Equipping the mountains of modern road infrastructure, hospitality and sporting events in the environment and its sustainability is the challenge that we must unite to enhance the mountain area. A challenge that FIS will not fail to make its contribution of content and organization. "
