The low pressure that dominates Europe in this end of 2020 will remain with us even in the first days of 2021, due to the persistent currents of cold air arriving from the North Pole. New disturbed passages are expected across the peninsula. Already on New Year's day, new snowfalls down to low altitudes are possible in the North and in the Apennine regions. Particularly on the Northwest slopes, the snow could reach the city.

According to the meteorologists of 3BMeteo, in the first days of 2021 another minimum of pressure could approach on the central-western Mediterranean which could cause bad weather on a large part of Italy up to the Epiphany. The regions most at risk would once again be the Tyrrhenian and northern ones, with snowfalls on the Alps and the Apennines and locally at low altitudes in the Northwest.
Apart from brief sunnier breaks between one front and the other, new episodes of unstable or disturbed weather could recur during the first decade of January, with cold weather and snowfalls at low altitudes, especially in the North.

Il nuovo aggiornamento della NOAA conferma un ulteriore rafforzamento di El Niño. Per il trimestre ottobre-dicembre sale dal 69 al 75% la probabilità che il fenomeno raggiunga un’intensità mai osservata nella serie storica iniziata nel 1950. Uno scenario che dobbiamo monitorare per capire gli scenari possibili per l’inverno 2026/2027.
