Produce snow without wasting energy

The latest news for producing artificial snow comes from Vitipeno: it is called "Ecostick" and promises a lot of snow without a high energy consumption.

One of the costs that most affect the balance of the ski resorts is certainly linked to the'' artificial snow. If the winters then, they have abundant rainfall, the costs are likely to rise dramatically. That's why, for some years, they conduct studies and research to try to produce snow limiting energy consumption.

The latest buzz comes from South Tyrol where the company Nivis Sterzing has patented a new lance for snow. It's called "Ecostick" and promises wonders. This technique is was made possible thanks to a multi-year research and work with'' the support of a provincial law aimed for research and innovation''. In the new launches snow, the'' energy'' of the pressure of the water is sufficient to suck the'' outside air necessary to the production process of the snow.

The water pressure is required obtained through the action of the pump, but also thanks to the altitude difference: 100 meters each will get 10 bars of pressure. A primer creates the ideal mixture of water and air. "This is an injector patented by us and already in use in propeller-driven airplanes", says Heinz Hofer of Nivis.

Tests conducted on the field have been made in the ski Ladurno-Pflersch, and thanks to the good results obtained numerous ski resorts in Austria, Germany, Norway, China and Ukraine have shown interest in the new technique for producing artificial snow. With appropriate studies, perseverance and research created a product that could solve the problem of the lack of snow in many resorts. In many small towns costs means already greatly improve the balance sheets at the end of the season.
