It is now official: Big Air events will open the freeski and snowboard World Cups in Innsbruck from November 26 to 28

The opening stop represents the major new development for the Park & Pipe World Cup in freeski and snowboard.

Yes, because the organization of a fully fledged event going beyond the Big Air competitions scheduled in the Innsbruck arena over the three-day period from November 26 to 28, under the spotlights, is now official (the previous week, on November 21, there will be two European Cup freeski street style events); the venue is the Bergisel, in the shadow of the legendary ski jumping hill that has long been the historic setting for the Four Hills Tournament and, with its new lighting system, will stage the first-ever women’s ski jumping event at the end of December, as part of the 75th men’s edition.

Qualifying for freeski and snowboard will take place on Thursday, November 26, marking Flora Tabanelli’s eagerly awaited return to the top-level circuit, just over a year after the cruciate ligament injury that did not prevent the Modena standout from winning Olympic bronze in BA (before undergoing surgery, while still waiting to make her full return to the team).

The first finals day, Friday, November 27, will see the freeski athletes compete for the first time in the long history of Big Air at this venue; 24 hours later, it will be the turn of the snowboard elite, returning to the Bergisel after years and looking back to that 1994 debut featuring the first Air & Style competitions.

The Innsbruck Big Air World Cup program will be enhanced by a high-profile music lineup, featuring some of the biggest names on the German-language hip-hop scene.
