Next weekend the second stage of the World Cup. Monteleone will be alongside the Venetian, already a great protagonist in Chur and ... a failed artist.

Two freeski slopestyle blues will be protagonists, on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 November, of the World Cup event hosted by Stubai. On the Austrian snows, almost a month after the opening of Chur, the second round of the maximum circuit and will be Leonardo Donaggio, already eighth in Switzerland on his debut, and another very young like René Monteleone, chosen by the technical director of the national team, Bartolomeo Pala, in agreement with the sector manager Valentino Mori.
Donaggio is the reference point of the blue freestyle, it is enough to think of what has been combined from the Venetian class of 2003 to his first Olympics, with a fabulous 5th place (in the big air), and already from Chur, with the best placement of his very young career in CdM, the season of possible consecration has begun.
Leo is the Italian artist of the national movement, able to draw imaginary works of art in big air and slopestyle tricks, he is the son of a designer at 360 degrees and who from Venice goes to conquer the world on skis .. . in the air. He was born as a snowboarder like his brother, “when I was two years old on the snow, I didn't even walk and went skiing to my grandparents”. One day he sees the video of an American boy doing freestyle: “I said to myself ok, from next season I'll start too”.
So Leo did: “I joined a club, then I started with the Italian Cup where I often won, while in 2017 I joined team B continuing with the Italian Cup. Three years ago, after winning the overall European Cup, I joined the World Cup team ”.
With a special philosophy: "When I jump - explains the Venetian sample - I feel like I have the opportunity to draw in the air and then I identify with a brush, the canvas is the air and I do acrobatics and draw what I I do. Of course I imagine myself creating a work of art, even if it remains for a few moments, a few seconds, which transfer emotions. My discipline is an elaboration of alpine skiing, through the introduction of jumps or railings where you slide over performing choreographic figures, that is the Tricks.
In slopestyle we do acrobatics both on the rails, the railings, and on the jumps, like next weekend in the “Stubai Zoo”, while the Big Air is the competition that takes place on a single jump. Many of my father's paintings are inspired by my brother and me, we are always in his head. In London and New York, where my father exhibited, I am always there too ”.
Donaggio is an eclectic, artistic, good and generous personality and at the same time very determined, but above all very “stylish”. “Big Air at the moment is the specialty in which I do best, but my goal is to become very strong and solid in Slopestyle which is the most difficult one, where there is more margin for error having more things to do. The tricks are a vastness, everyone does them with their own style, which is what matters most in the judgment ".
I make what I perform seem simple enough, which very often leads judges to give me a good score. I am personally inspired by my father, we inspire each other and I would like the world of sport and art to find synergies to tell ”.
And now we aim straight for the first podium in the World Cup: “I have to improve consistency, especially in Slopestyle races, where I tend to make mistakes on the rails. To do this it takes a lot of training and also a mental approach to refine the process. As in any sport, it takes a lot of training, a lot of dedication, even in the visualization of tricks ".
