Christof Innerhofer and Michela Moioli, "Talents" in Cortina: "We want to win again thinking of the 2026 Games"

A meeting, organized by the Cortina Foundation 2021, with the blue downhill skier and the star of snowboarding.

Christof Innerhofer and Michela Moioli were the guests, on the evening of Friday, of the new appointment of "Talents - Stories of extraordinary companies", dedicated to the speed with the two champions in Piazza Dibona, in the heart of Cortina d'Ampezzo, embraced by the warmth of the people of what has now become the home of skiing in particular, with the 2020 World Cup finals and the 2021 world championships, but more generally winter sports thanks to the assignment of the Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina 2021 . The deputy deputy director of the Gazzetta dello Sport, Gianni Valenti, interviewed the returning South Tyrolean sprinter and the Olympian from Bergamo during an event that revealed two points of reference in the world of snow in Italy and in the world. "Inner" is back in Cortina, 160 days after the injury to the left knee at the Italian championships, right on the new Vertigine track that will host the World Championships: "I tell you the truth, I didn't want to see the fall again because I like to think to the beautiful moments and go on - the 34 year old of Gais has confessed - It was not easy to accept it, but now I can say to have lived the most beautiful spring-summer period of the last 10 years. I worked non-stop from 8 am to 6 pm, but I was serene with my head and much more relaxed than in the past ". A couple of weeks ago, the return on skis to the Stelvio: "I had doubts, but after half a turn I almost had tears in my eyes, because I understood that the knee responded well. I feel I have already recovered at 90%, and to think that I should have started again in mid-October ... It is true, I missed the trip to Argentina, but I don't think I will pay it compared to my teammates and opponents, at home I can manage myself better and on our glaciers work without problems. I am 34 years old but do not feel them, as I have always said I want to continue for a long time because I am competitive and I still want to enjoy the joy of winning a medal in a great event. Yes, I also dream of the Games of 2026 ". Finally a jab to the young skiers: "We have a few that emerge at a high level, I simply think that they don't have our mentality, they need to wake up a bit '... The difference is made in training and in detail, not according to rest". Michela Moioli is back from a vintage with no success, but she already knows how to get back on the road to victory, while not throwing away the good things she did anyway in the 2018/19 season: "I took home a silver and a bronze medal at the World Cup and I finished 3rd in the World Cup, it didn't go so bad ... - explains the champion from Bergamo - I felt I had to change the preparation and so I did, starting from some specific aspects to move on to work completely different than before. On an athletic level I think I made the right choices, the verification will come in winter ”. Michela was one of the three women symbol of the candidacy of Milan-Cortina 2026, together with Sofia Goggia and Arianna Fontana: "I believe that the Italian team has worked very well to win this challenge, then we put our own to add something more on the decisive day. It was a wonderful adventure, I really enjoyed myself and even if I don't want to think about it now, clearly I would like to be there in less than 7 years ". The relationship with Sofia Goggia, from Bergamo and Olympic gold like her, remains special: “We find ourselves very well, in the way of thinking both about life and the training and everything that exists around it. It 'nice to have a friend who has the same rhythms, because from the outside it is difficult to understand what we live between travels, hopes, anxieties ... Of course, if we did the same discipline, I think we would hate ourselves. It is almost inevitable, but fortunately it is not so ”.
