The president of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, said he was very satisfied with the additional resources included in the 2021 State Budget Law, in favor of those who built infrastructures in view of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games: "Thanks to this new funding we can start thinking about sports infrastructures and interventions that are closely connected. In these days, during the Alpine Ski World Championships, Cortina is proving to be on par with all the world winter sports capitals. Our goal for the next five years must be to create the highest number of territorial synergies, to strengthen our structure. "
"There is a need for implementing decrees that shorten the times for the construction of the works; for example the redevelopment of the" Eugenio Monti "gut will have a very important role, as in the future it may also become a tourist infrastructure." - he added always the governor of the Veneto Region.
These 145 million are added to the billion euros allocated in 2019, reserved exclusively for Olympic infrastructures: "This first part has already been invested in the infrastructure plan of the Veneto region, in particular in the variant of Longarone in that of Cortina, as well as in other works - says Zaia - Furthermore, I confirm that the luge, bobsleigh and skeleton competitions will be held at the foot of the Tofane, as happened in the '56 Olympics, on the "Eugenio Monti" track, a diamond that still shines 70 years old distance."
Fourteen competition venues have already been identified for the 2026 Olympic Games, located in four locations: Milan, Valtellina, Cortina and Val di Fiemme.
Cortina will host women's alpine skiing competitions, curling competitions in the Olympic Stadium and gut disciplines (bobsleigh, luge and skeleton) on the "Eugenio Monti"; moreover, in nearby Anterselva, biathlon competitions will be staged.
