The Games in Italy begin to take shape after a meeting that has dealt with various issues.

The headquarters of Palazzo Lombardia in fact hosted the first technical meeting on the organization of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics 2026.
The IOC was present with three consultants from the Games Delivery sector, namely the Swiss Pierre Ducrey, the Canadian Tim Gayda and the Scot Gavin McAlpine. The table was led by the president of CONI, Giovanni Malagò: "With Thomas Bach, president of the IOC, I have an unwritten agreement that commits me, by November, to guarantee the composition of governance and I intend to respect it. We have therefore defined a time schedule and see full flexibility and dialogue between the parties â€.
The next dates? On September 12 in Venice there should be a second technical meeting, but the meetings at Palazzo Chigi will be continuous to define the legal form of the organizing committee, which should be based in Palazzo Lombardia. By 10-11 December there will be a new official appointment in Milan, but the number 1 of Italian sport guarantees that "at that point the team will have already settled".
The three-time Olympic champion Antonio Rossi, undersecretary to the presidency of the Lombardy Region with delegation to major sporting events, reveals some topics of the technical meeting held on Thursday: "We have a plan to strengthen the rail link Milan-Sondrio, with a cut of 20 minutes compared to at the present time, at the Orio al Serio-Lecco road sign and at State Road 36 and 38, with the Piona and Dervio and Tirano junctions to be placed, in addition to the extension of the Sondrio ring road. We also have a dream: a light train covering the 30 km from Tirano to Bormio â€.
The knots are not lacking, starting from the situation of San Siro and therefore an opening ceremony for which Malagò does not veto: “We would like both the present stage, both the restructured one and the new one with the related technologies, but also any alternatives. " At Palazzo Lombardia we talked about the critical issues related to the gut of Cortina, the long runway of Baselga di Pinè and the work to be done for snowboarding in Livigno. Finally, PalaItalia, which will host ice hockey in Milan, should be ready by February-March 2025, in time for a test event.
