A year ago the 2026 Winter Olympic Games were awarded to Lausanne in Italy.
From June 24, 2019 to June 24, 2020, Milan-Cortina has already made a nice journey on the long road to the big event of February 2026. The two-day work of the delegation ends today, going up to Valtellina for a series of meetings and inspections of what will be the Lombard Olympic sites.
The delegation was led by the managing director Vincenzo Novari, with Diana Bianchedi and Francesco Romussi, in addition to the presence of the FISI President, Flavio Roda, with the two Lombard regional councilors, Antonio Rossi and Massimo Sertori, who have already been collaborating with the Federation in the organization of Alpine skiing competitions of the World Cup in Bormio, site which will host the homologous Olympic competitions.
The visit made a stop on Tuesday in Bormio, where the Italian alpine ski director, Massimo Rinaldi, led the delegation to the finish area of the Stelvio slope. Then the authorities of the Upper Valley were met: the mayors, the mountain community, the tourist consortia, the chamber of commerce, Valtellina tourism and the president of the province of Sondrio, Elio Moretti.
The delegation moved today to Livigno, the snowboard competition site, where the slopes were inspected under the guidance of the sporting director, Cesare Pisoni. All the matches were successful and now the schedule that will lead to the appointment with the Games continues. "The inspections were positive - said President Roda - both in Bormio and in Livigno. The presence of Vincenzo Novari was fundamental, which brought a message of cohesion and great opportunity for the territory that must not be forgotten. Now, we must continue because there are still many things to do. "
