On the sidelines of the last competitive appointment of 2021, which will end on Thursday with the third race on the Stelvio in Bormio, Flavio Roda has drawn up an assessment of the blue year for the FISI, already taking a look at the next Olympic Games in Beijing 2022, both on the technical-sporting level and on the health safety front, but also on the home side of Milan-Cortina 2026. “This is a season to be managed very carefully - said the federal president - from every point of view. In the Olympic projection, the teams of all specialties have worked at their best, making great efforts, some athletes are already in the best condition and others are getting there ".
You aim high for the five-circle event. “Alpine skiing is one of the disciplines with the greatest chances of a medal, the victory of Paris here in Bormio is a great sign, when the slopes become tough and demanding it has shown that it is in a position to achieve great results. The one who is not in top condition yet is the biathlon sector, but I am confident that when they manage to put their aim back in place, things will work out. In view of the Beijing Olympics we will have to be good at managing and protecting the health of athletes also from a health point of view.
The deadline for submitting the lists of players called is January 24th. The technicians will choose the items to bring based on the condition and the results obtained during the season; they will have the last word, there are no precise criteria, as in the past. The most deserving will go as well as some young people who will have to gain experience ".
Casa Italia collection FISI made its debut in Bormio in the World Cup. “It is an important and significant project. I thank Sport e Salute and Coni for having prepared this beautiful and functional structure. The project starts now and will last until the Italian Olympics in 2026. I can assure you that we are trying to give our best on all fronts, both at the highest levels and in the youth sector. In future projection we would like bobsleigh and sledding to become more competitive. At the youth level we have excellent cross-country and biathlon signals ”.
FISI has devised, with Col. Naz and Amsi, an initiative to bring tourists closer to the mountains as well. “The mountain sector and that of ski instructors in particular were heavily penalized last year by the pandemic, so it seemed right to me to propose initiatives to help the sector. In the same way we also helped the Ski Clubs, so that they could start again with the basic activity. We must give our best to support the whole mountain system, we must absolutely keep the activity for the ski areas alive. There is the basis for our sports that we absolutely cannot forget ”.
