A little more than four months after the start of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, the authorities were forced to declare a state of emergency due to heavy rains that hit the Russian city in recent weeks.

The exceptional rainfall have crippled the transport network of the region: airports were forced to cancel several flights, rail traffic was stopped and several roads have become impassable, including the highway connecting the city of Sochi to mountain facilities where there will be the Olympic trials. As if that was not enough there were several blackouts.
The emergency situation has occurred just in time for the tenth (and last) visit to the control of the IOC Coordination Commission for Sochi 2014 under the leadership of Jean-Claude Killy, who had words of appreciation for the efforts of the organizers .
The Russian deputy Dmitry Kozak held a press conference in which he announced that in spite of the inclement weather no structure to organize the Olympic Games has been damaged. There should therefore be no problems in terms of the preparation of the plants.
