Alpine Crossing, the new connecting cableway between Zermatt and Cervinia

It will be called "Alpine Crossing" the 3S cableway which in 2021 will connect the stations of Testa Grigia and Matterhorn glacier paradise (Piccolo Cervino) throughout the year. An agreement has finally been reached between the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Protection (Fp) and Zermatt Bergbahnen SA (Zbag), the company that manages the lifts.

According to a statement released on February 25 on the Matterhorn Parsadise website, the Swiss Foundation waives an appeal against the foreseeable awarding of the concession and the approval by the FOT of the plans of the Leitner Ropeways three-way cable car between Gray Head and the Matterhorn glacier paradise. On the other hand, ZBAG commits itself to promoting quality tourism and to dismantling the already existing cableway for the transport of material between Cime Bianche Lakes (Italy) and Piccolo Cervino, as well as the Grenzlift, an integral part of the summer ski area. The agreement also includes the external lighting of the upstream station and the color scheme of the downstream station to better integrate into the landscape. The connection between Zermatt and Cervinia will be the highest transalpine connection.

Argentera

Argentera
