Finally the return of snowboard cross and Michela Moioli: "In Valmalenco immediately a show"

On Friday the first act of the World Cup with the qualifications, then on Saturday and Sunday the Lombard races that will open a troubled season. Word to the Olympic champion.

After more than a month of continuous changes to the calendar that led to the cancellation of the races initially scheduled in Montafon, then in Cervinia, St. Lary, Feldberg and Dolni Morava, the Snowoard Cross World Cup finally takes shape with the double appointment in Valmalenco (which in turn replaces Bergamo), where two tests will be held on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January. Italy, devoid of the injured Emanuel Perathoner, will field the best team at the start including Matteo Menconi, Thomas Belingheri, Devin Castello, Omar Visintin, Lorenzo Sommariva (who last year nearly won the World Cup), Tommaso Leoni , Filippo Ferrari, Michele Godino among men and Sofia Belingheri, Francesca Gallina, Raffaella Brutto, Caterina Carpano and obviously the Olympic champion and holder of the crystal ball, Michela Moioli, among women. The Bergamo champion is among the most awaited protagonists of the two Gorni Valtellinese, thanks to the clear dominance shown in the past season. “Passing this month in which we would have had to compete without any competitive commitment but only to train was really a tough test - says Michela - especially thinking about what happened in the last year. Maintaining a high level of preparation and motivation was not easy, but in the end we are aware that it is our job and we must do it in the best way. Let's look ahead, the time has finally come to leave the word to the table. The Valmalenco track is very beautiful, I competed there ten years ago at the Junior World Championships (where he finished in fifth place, ed), but it is different from the past, with some technical variations. It is impossible to assess my condition, we did only one test last week in Colere in a FIS race that I won. Let's say that during the preparation phase I worked a lot in the start section, where I filed something in terms of reaction times, even if it will never be my strong point. The goal was to focus a lot on agility and body reaction, I decreased the weights compared to previous years. The fact of not having had races penalizes, because competing helps to compete, it is a way to fight one's worries ”. The World Championships have moved from China to Sweden, with the cross races scheduled in Idre from 11 to 13 February. “It's a track I've never tried, but it has big jumps and structures, there will be a lot of snow and spectacular races can come out of it. All conditions that excite me ”. While waiting to get back on track, Michela enrolled in a university course in Motor Sciences in Bergamo, where she successfully passed the first exam in "Theories, methods and didactics of child development" in recent days: "I prepare myself for the future - he confirms with a smile - even if I still have many goals to achieve as an athlete ".
