A historic first for a sprint race in the city, a unique event in the snowboard cross panorama.
Foresight, planning, but also a lot of stubbornness to keep their World Cup stage on the calendar, while many organizers around Europe have already canceled everything, reducing the maximum circuit to very few appointments.
Bergamo will have its big event, January 23-24, 2021, with a spectacular two-day event on the Fara di Città Alta, the beating heart of the small medieval village. The Bergamo stage project comes from afar; as is well known, the idea was born from the great dream come true of Michela Moioli, the Olympian who always wanted to compete in her hometown.
Franco Vismara, president of the FAB Snow Eagle Ski Club and CEO of the Valmalenco Bernina Ski Resort, together with Antonio Noris (at the helm of the Goggi Ski Club) have decided to make this dream come true, supported by the sports director of the Italian national snowboard team, Cesare Pisoni. , carrying out the project with conviction and determination and choosing the lawn of the Fara di Città Alta which, for this special occasion, will be whitened by the snow brought directly from Valmalenco, thus winning the primacy of the first city track in Italy hosting a World of this specialty.
Of absolute importance for the realization of the project was the patronage of the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Bergamo, who strongly believed in the competition to confirm the value of sport at both municipal and regional level, the support of Cancro Primo Help Onlus, which has always active in the sports field, in addition to the close collaboration, obviously, with FIS and FISI.
Structured over two days, the snowboard cross CdM in Bergamo will see 60 men and 30 women compete against each other; Saturday 23 January the competition will get under way, kicking off the individual sprint races, with finals scheduled from 2.00 pm. Sunday 24, however, will be the day dedicated to the team competition (each nation can have 2 or 3 teams at most up to a total of 32 challenging teams), with finals always from 14.00. We remind you that the Bergamo route starts from Pozzo Bianco, in the small square overlooking via Porta Dipinta, up to the Fara.
An event, unfortunately, forced to go on stage without an audience, but which will be broadcast live on Rai channels and Eurosport.
