The Italy of snowboard cross begins in a big way: Sofia Belingheri triumphs in the European Cup, Sommariva second

In Pitztal the first leg of the continental circuit: the 24 year-old from Bergamo returns and immediately wins, in the race to test Michela Moioli as well.

A dream debut, for the Azzurri of snowboard cross in the European Cup. The first leg of the continental circuit, taken on the snows of Pitztal, saw the Italian national team take home two podiums immediately, with a splendid victory obtained in the female trial by Sofia Belingheri. The 24-year-old from Bergamo, on the verge of retiring at the end of last season, returned to take the big final by force in front of the Swiss Sophie Hediger and the British Charlotte Bankes. In the top ten two other blue, with Raffaella Brutto sixth and Caterina Carpano seventh. Michela Moioli was also in the race, but for a test towards the World Cup the result was still useful, given that the Olympic champion signed the best time in the qualifying, and then went out in the quarterfinals as Ester Gross. At the male level, Lorenzo Sommariva's 2nd place came instead: the 26-year-old blue was beaten only by the Austrian Alessandro Haemmerle, with the German Noerl third to complete the podium. Filippo Ferrari and Michele Godino came out in the quarterfinals, while Tommaso Leoni remained in the race up to the second round.
