The new season of the blue biathlon started last Sunday, with the start of the rally that will last for the whole week and will see Dorothea Wierer, Lisa Vittozzi, Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch leading a national team made up of many promoted young people. From Val Martello to ... IBU council held yesterday in a video conference and which made a couple of important news official. Starting with the one regarding the cancellation of the summer biathlon world championships, scheduled from August 19 to 23 in Ruhpolding; with the limitations imposed by the German government on mass events until 31 of the same month, no postponement of the event was sought, thus opting for the definitive cancellation, confirmed by the IBU after assessing the impossibility of to be able to reorganize it safely and on a date favorable to all parties involved. The biathlon federation has also postponed the next congress, scheduled from 10 to 13 September in Prague, to the weekend of 13-15 November, also ratifying the candidates for the next editions of the world championships. After Pokljuka 2021 and Oberhof 2023, we will go to Nove Mesto in 2024, with the locality of the Czech Republic (defeated for 2023 by the German candidacy) which already has the world championship in hand, being the only candidate. For 2025, however, it will be a challenge between Lenzerheide and Minsk-Raubichi.
