The fourth stage of the World Cup opens and a January of great biathlon with the starter in Slovenia replacing Oberhof, where the world championships will be held, before the great classics of Ruhpolding and Anterselva. Thursday the start of the women's Sprint with the sappadina in the opening.

The 2023 Biathlon World Cup opens under the sign of Lisa Vittozzi, the first to open the gate on Thursday 05 January at 2.20 pm. The Sprints are scheduled in Pokljuka, with the men engaged on Friday 06 January, the Pursuits on Saturday 07 and the mixed relays (Single Mixed and Mixed Relay) on Sunday 08.
In the first group for Italy, in addition to Vittozzi, there will also be Wierer, with bib number 21 and Samuela Comola, starting with number 26. Second group instead for Rebecca Passler (43), third for Federica Sanfilippo (61), all seasonal debut in the World Cup.
All the big names will be involved in the first part of the race: Tandrevold will have the 7 and will precede Elvira Oeberg (14). On the other hand, the absence of his sister Hanna should be remembered. With the 25th it will be the turn of the cup leader Julia Simon, who will start just before Anais Chevalier (29) and Marketa Davidova (31). After the Czech here is the awaited return of Marte Roeiseland (32), making his season debut after missing the first three stages of the World Cup. Closing the first group are Hauser (34) and Herrmann-Wick (35), leading the Sprint standings. In the second part, pay attention to Sophie Chauveau (48) and Anamarija Lampic (50).
