Wierer starts 2023 with the podium: third in the Pokljuka Sprint won by Elvira Oeberg.

An imperial order of arrival for the race that inaugurates 2023 and which leaves no room for surprises. Dorothea Wierer proves extremely competitive as Lisa Vittozzi takes a sharp step back and scores six shooting errors.

The Biathlon World Cup restarts from Pokljuka with the women's Sprint which marks the return to the competitions of the holder of the crystal ball Marte Roeiseland, until now absent due to the delay in summer preparation for an annoying shingles, and the absences due to seasonal illnesses of Hanna Oeberg and Franziska Preuss. The first victory of 2023 comes from Elvira Oeberg (0-0) who stages the almost perfect race: second best time on skis and 10/10 shooting. Speed at the polygon is not enough for Julia Simon (0-0) who has to settle for second place and for an excellent Dorothea Wierer (0-0), third at 18.7 paying 28 seconds on skis to the winner. After the seventh place in the Sprint of Le Grand Bornand, the Slovak Paulina Fialkova (0-1) gets the best result of the season, fourth at 26.5 ahead of Marketa Davidova (0-1), fifth at 28.7. Failure at the shooting range precludes Denise Herrmann (1-1) from reaching the podium: 10 seconds faster on skis than Elvira, the German has to settle for fifth place at 36.3 and precedes Linn Persson (1-0) by 4 seconds and Sophie Chauveau (0-1) by 6 seconds. Ingrid Tandrevold (0-1) is ninth at 46.0 while the Finnish Eder (1-0) and the French Jeanmonnot (0-0) finish in tenth place, both at 52.2. The return of Marte Roeiseland (0-1) is good with the best range time of the company and the fifteenth position at 59.9 seconds. Samuela Comola (1-1) closes with a delay of 1.54.7 from the winner and Federica Sanfilippo (2-1) is at 2.03.4; Lisa Vittozzi (4-2) finds the ghosts of last season at the shooting range and pays 2.43.1 while Rebecca Passler (3-2) remains out of the Pursuit at 3.41.8.
