Wierer and Hofer officially renounce Wiesbaden: no city biathlon due to the FISI standard

On September 27 the event on German soil, but without the Azzurri who will not be able to participate in competitions (even unofficial) until October 15. Substitutes chosen.

Dorothea Wierer and Lukas Hofer will not take part in the city biathlon scheduled in Wiesbaden, it is now official. The two national standard bearers, invited to the summer festival organized for Sunday 27 September, announced their resignation through the social channels of the German event, confirming as the FISI rule that prevents their athletes from taking part in competitions ( even unofficial) at an international level until next October 15, led them to have to say "no". Among the 16 athletes (8 men and as many women) who will be protagonists in front of a decidedly limited audience in terms of capacity, in place of the winner of the last two World Cups (third in Wiesbaden in 2019, with Lisa Vittozzi winner) and of the 'South Tyrolean world silver in the relay (and 4th at the city biathlon last year) there will therefore be Marketa Davidova and Michael Krcmar from the Czech Republic. In reality, the men called up are 9 with the possible presence of the reigning champion Tarjei Boe, while for the women's race there is a further change, with the injured Karolin Horchler who leaves room for compatriot Maren Hammerschmidt, trusting in recovery of Vanessa Hinz who has a ligament problem in her ankle.
