Wiesbaden confirms its City Biathlon: if there is an OK FISI, the blue ones will also be competing

Germany will compete, albeit with some limitations, on August 27th. In 2019 Vittozzi triumphed with Wierer third.

It is one of the most anticipated summer events and has clearly been in danger for many weeks. Not that the danger can be considered definitively averted, but on Monday the organizers of the City Biathlon in Wiesbaden officially confirmed the appointment for Sunday, September 27, the date found after the move compared to the original calendar that provided for the race in the town of Hesse for August 16. If the FISI gives the ok, after having made official the choice in the last few days not to make any athlete of the national teams compete in international events until next August 30th, there will also be the big blues in what would be practically the only one high-level event in preparation for the World Cup, which kicked off a couple of months later. Azzurri who have been training since last week and until the end of this in Anterselva; last year, Lisa Vittozzi won in Wiesbaden, with Dorothea finishing third. For the event in Germany, the participation of foreign athletes is therefore foreseen, even if there will be severe limitations in terms of audience, with the elimination of the main grandstand located on the track, which in turn will be slightly modified. No side events, in what has always been the great summer party of German biathlon and beyond. On 11 August the press conference to present the event and, if all goes well, the confirmation of the names expected at the start.
