Bob: in Koenigssee the tenth of Friedrich, in the monobob victory for Humphries

World Cup: the German phenomenon continues to break records and signs the tenth success in the two-man bob. Baumgartner closes 20th.

Another triumph of Francesco Friedrich is staged on the Koenigssee track. Portentous push phase, perfect driving or seasoned with almost imperceptible corrections, obsessive attention to every detail, such as keeping very low with the head, where the track offers the opportunity. This in summary is the recipe that brings the Pirna phenomenon to its tenth success this season in the two-man bob. The great performance of his main rival, the other German Johannes Lochner, was worth nothing. At the end of the first run only five hundredths separated the two crews, but in the decisive descent Friedrich further raised the bar by closing with 20 cents ahead. Third place, but very far from the two Teutonics, for the Austrian Benjamin Maier, in great conditions given his second podium in the last three races. The Canadian Kripps and the British Hall were just off the podium, while the returning Kimbermanis finished in 15th place. Colorless descent for the blue Patrick Baumgartner (paired with brakeman Alex Verginer), 20th at the finish line after a test without particular errors but still not up to par. In the female monobob race valid for the World Series, victory never in question for the American Kaillie Humphries in front of another star and stripes athlete, Elana Meyers-Taylor. Third was the German Schneider, author of a serious mistake in the second run that cost her a place in the ranking, but not the podium. Surprisingly fourth the Korean Kim, the leader of the bobsleigh 2, the Austrian Beierl, did not take part in the competition. On Sunday the 4-a-side bobsleigh and the women's 2-way bobsleigh are scheduled with the fight for the general still very open. Matteo Collodoro
