Francesco Friedrich monopolizes the home stage, staged on the Winterberg gut. The thirty-year-old native of Pirna won the 2-man bobsleigh race yesterday, becoming the most successful athlete ever in the World Cup, ahead of compatriot Johannes Lochner. Third place for the Austrian Benjamin Maier.
Back the only blue in the race Patrick Baumgartner, only 16th.
Germany also protagonist in the women's race, where the victory went to Laura Nolte in front of teammate Kim Kalicki. The Austrian Katrin Beierl completes the podium.
Today the 4-man bobsleigh race was staged where Francesco Friedrich gave an extraordinary encore, in front of the Canadian Justin Krips and the Austrian Benjamin Maier; 4th Rostislav Giatiukevich who takes home the European bronze as the second place in the standings was reached by a non-European athlete. For Friedrich it is also the first European title in his career in the 4-man bobsleigh (as announced at the beginning this stage also assigned the European titles).
More than positive performance today for Patrick Baumgartner, who took a very good 10th place.
