The first day of the World Team Trophy team competition now in its fourth edition, & egrave; ended with the men's short program, which, as expected, did not disappoint the expectations of numerous public at the "Yoyogi National Gymnasium" in Tokyo.

The segment of the race & egrave; was, in fact, dominated by Yuzuru Hanyu, simply flawless on six of the seven elements provided. The Olympic champion showed a superiority & agrave; overwhelmingly against the competition to the point of being able to afford a fall at the end of the combination triple lutz / triple toe loop, however, missing the rotation on the second jump landed on two feet.
Despite the 'error, the twenties of Sendai has inflicted more than nine points behind the pi & ugrave; immediate pursuer clocking by far the best technical score and assessment pi & ugrave; high on each item of the program components. Behind the Japanese ace is & egrave; placed the nineteen Chinese Han Yan, author of a spectacular triple axel, but penalized by a landing extremely problematic than quadruple toe loop. In the wake tandem Asian & egrave; attested the American Jason Brown, who improved personal best compensating somewhat for the lack of the quadruple jump with the quality & agrave; of the elements of spinning top.
The Japanese Takahito Mura, appeared pi & ugrave; brilliant from the physical point of view compared to the latest releases, finished in fourth position ahead of Russian Sergei Voronov, now forced to pay duty for not having performed the quadruple toe loop, and the Canadian Nam Nguyen, autorie a test without major flaws, but free choice of the fundamental quadruple jump.
Remained pi & ugrave; lingered the American Max Aaron, the Russian Maxim Kovtun and Frenchman Florent Amodio, finished nell''ordine, but still in the running for a place among the top five.
At the end of the first day, the United States seems headed towards the second consecutive victory and third overall in the World Team Trophy. However, the defending champions will have to watch their backs by the return of Russia, at the time the second tie with Japan to five points behind the head. Canada, China and France seem, however, now out of the game from around medals.
