In the United States the month of October is historically the one where you play the nine "regionals", aka the first obstacle to overcome to win the National Championship qualifying, which this season will be held in Boston between 5 and 12 January.
More than 1,800 athletes between male and female sections will fall on the ice in five categories (juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior, senior) with the dream of getting'' s final event hosted by the city of Massachusetts.
The first three regionals hiring was opened over the weekend and will conclude Tuesday.
The 2014 U.S. Figure Skating qualifying season begins Saturday, Oct. 4, with Eastern Great Lakes Regional Figure Skating Championships. The Northwest Pacific and North Atlantic regional championships begin Oct. 5. The remaining six regional championships take place Throughout October.
More than 1,800 skaters in two Disciplines (ladies and men's) will compete in five levels at the nine regional championships. The top four skaters in each discipline qualify for one of three sectional championships, Which will be held November 18 to 22. The top four finishers at the sectional championships earn a berth to the 2014 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships set for Jan. 5-12, in Boston. This year, the 2014 U.S. Championships are the final qualifying event before the 2014 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team is named. Several members of the 2013-14 U.S. Figure Skating team envelope will compete at regional championships, including 2010 U.S. champion Rachael Flatt (Central Pacific) and 2011 U.S. champion Alissa Czisny (Eastern Great Lakes), both of whom-did not compete at the 2013 U.S. Championships two to injury.
