Denis Ten stabbed to death in Almaty

The Kazakh Denis Ten, 25 years old on June 13, was killed by two attackers who were stealing his car's mirrors. Ten was stabbed to the thigh in Almaty, his hometown, and he had bled to death after three hours, his hospitalization unnecessary to save him.

Of Korean origin, he was the first of Kazakhstan to win an Olympic medal in figure skating, the bronze in Sochi 2014, he was also the first world medal in his country in his discipline, silver in London in 2013 and bronze in Shanghai in 2015, in the same year he won the four continents championship scoring his best scores: 97.61 in the short program, 191.85 in the free for a total of 289.46 which is currently the seventh best ever score. In the last season he struggled a lot due to a right ankle injury, reaching twenty-seventh at the PyeongChang 2018 Games. From 2006 to 2014 he was five times a national champion. His murder is a huge tragedy for all winter sports.
