Francesca Rio has announced his retirement from racing

Like lightning in a clear sky, & egrave; arrived in the early afternoon today's bad news for the Italian women's movement. Francesca Rio, at twenty-four have not yet been made, he decided to give up the sports competitions.

The decision & egrave; been informed by the same athlete with a long letter, published on a popular social network, which covered his life as an athlete, starting from toddlers up to all''infortunio suffered nell''ultimo period. Having recently graduated in Economics and Business Administration, Rio watched the racing season underway with major ambitions, justified by the successful work done in the summer between Courchevel and Colorado Springs, where he had the opportunity to participate in an internship training with Tom Zakrajsek. However, a serious injury all''anca left, that will force & agrave; to a long period of rest, has area represents the reason for giving a legitimate turning to life. Francesca has, in fact, decided to enroll in a Master's in International Management all''estero after so much time focusing on their studies compared to the sport. Rio was born in Como on December 16, 1990 & egrave; climb on the podium four times in absolute national championships, winning the junior title in 2006. He participated in two editions of the European Championships getting a fifteenth place in Helsinki in 2009. '' was tenth in the last Universiade and has three appearances in the World Championships junior with a good eleventh place achieved in 2009 in Sofia, not to mention the many podiums arrived in competitive level b. His absence will be & agrave; definitely felt in the women's Italian gi & agrave; depleted by the decisions made in the summer of Kostner and Marchei & Nbsp; And '' full duty to return a long letter in which the driver of the Forum of Assago announced his decision. The 'call & egrave; to read carefully the 'whole text, in some places very touching. It is clear and precise un''analisi on how hard and difficult the career of un''atleta high level and how everything can become more & ugrave; complex when you take the 'ambitious decision to carry on together is that scholastic sports career. My name is Francesca Rio, I am 23 years old, and this & egrave; my seventh MRI. & Ldquo; Hello darling, put your headset on, the blue apron and sdaiati. & Egrave; your first MRI? & rdquo; & Ldquo; No, the seventh & rdquo; I say annoyed at the puny nurse in front of me does not hide & rsquo; expression of amazement. He looks at me and probably trying to figure out how a girl cos & igrave; young and athletic physique may have already & agrave; made different. & Ldquo; Okay, so you know already & agrave; you hear the noise, you will not have to move & hellip; & rdquo; Do not listen to the gi & agrave; pi & ugrave ;. They are busy calculating how much will blend & Outdoors, Samsung interior of the car in front of me. Probably up to his chest. I hope that I do not fully fit & Outdoors, inside of that & ldquo; pipe & rdquo; that pi & ugrave; a machine that looks like a hospital the launch pad. I do not like small spaces and limited perch & eacute; I'm always afraid that I might miss the & rsquo; s air. Drive out negative thoughts from claustrophobic and I focus on the pump that I hold tightly in my fist of his left hand. & Ldquo; Whatever, if you do not feel well, and I will crush the pump & ograve; immediately to you. The resonance will last & agrave; 30 minutes, we begin? & Rdquo; I motioned to the S & igrave; his head & Outdoors; nurse leaves the room and leaves me alone. Start. Muffled & Outdoors, inside of my ramp start to feel the sounds that even the headphones are able to reduce and I remember too well & hellip; Not even in Manhattan c & rsquo; & egrave; so much confusion & hellip; Thus began & igrave; my trip. I close my eyes, and I look back on my summer workouts in Courchevel, on my flight back from Colorado a week early and my left hip. Burning, bloody. The launch pad brings me even more & ugrave; at & rsquo; s inside of the machine. Now even my nose & egrave; covered by & rsquo; shadow of the machine. I squeeze my eyes & more ugrave; strong and I imagine a & rsquo; on the other hand. Cabbage Francesca, with all the visualization exercises that you have done in these years will know imagine the sea & hellip; No, nothing to do. The sea does not work, I can only imagine the ice. I have not yet learned to carry me on vacation. Maybe because & eacute; I do not quite clear in my head the concept of & ldquo; holiday & rdquo ;. Cos & igrave; I imagine a workout and maybe I fall asleep as well ... & ldquo; It & rsquo; finished honey, you look out along with the doctor, take your time. Do not get in a hurry because & eacute; you might have a slight headache. & rdquo; Fanc *** headaches - I do not care & ndash; and in a second they are out quizzically scrutinize the & rsquo; expression of the doctor who is studying my MRI. Worried, S & igrave & rsquo ;, a little; worried. But not too far from, say & agrave; I have nothing, and which will be able & ograve; start training in a couple of days. He raises an eyebrow and puffing a bit & rsquo ;. It looks worried again. Mmm, I hope it's just tired & hellip; He looks at me. I smile as if I could influence the words from the & igrave; by little I say & agrave ;. & Ldquo; Rest. Do you have a muscle injury & Outdoors; iliopsoas. Unfortunately & egrave; a delicate area and we can not overlook or exaggerate movements in the coming days. You can not run, you can not force your abs & hellip; & rdquo; I gi & agrave; stopped listening. Rest? He actually said & ldquo; off & rdquo ;? I am gi & agrave; to cry but I print a polite smile and I leave the room resonance asking to go to the toilet. Do not talk to rest an athlete because & eacute; could make a face worse than any competitor television is seen escaping € 1 million to a question from victory. Game over. Rest equal to "lose" the same as rest & ldquo; & rdquo ;, equal ommioddio & ldquo; now I lose all the work done & rdquo ;, equal swallow that breaks a & rsquo; s wing. I look at my parents in the waiting room and ask you to take home. I did not say anything. Familiar with the practice for these situations: they merely sketching a smile and give me a pat on the back. They know they do not want to hug or encouraging phrases. Here, there & rsquo; & egrave; nothing to celebrate or support. I just want to be alone. With a little & rsquo; pi & ugrave; coldness re-examine my injury. There & egrave; the first. I never gave up, I never made overpower the difficulty & agrave ;. I have always fought and always come back to the podium. What will & agrave; then this? I wonder if the sport at the end face really well & hellip; Let me tell you, I think not. Even Andre Agassi in his book will tell & agrave; no, and it is certainly an item more & ugrave; reliable than mine. The physical model is reinforced, but in the long run ruin. I am not speaking of sport in general, mind you, but of & rsquo; s competitive spirit. Train every day four or five hours a day & can not ograve; be defined as something beneficial to the body. I do racing since I was 11 years old. I was a little girl after school was not looking Pokemon with friends, why & eacute; c in the afternoon & rsquo; s & rsquo was; workout. What the weekend did not go to birthday parties because & eacute; the weekend c & rsquo; s were the races. To write it makes me smile and I wish I could hug that little girl who just wanted to skate in life and fill the face of glitter at the races. It was what I wanted, I & egrave; never been imposed and I & egrave; ever weighed, l & rsquo; I always have passion for. Sacrifices are made known only now that I have a & rsquo; s & agrave et other; and I realize how different were my childhood and my adolescence from those of my friends and my own brothers. I would like to raccontarveli, but it would be a long list and maybe a little & rsquo; boring. Well, if it's not too good for the body, then what is the & rsquo; s competitive spirit? Sport & ldquo; training for life & rdquo ;. Probably & rsquo; s & agrave you have already; heard this. Prover & ograve; to make sense of this proverbietto very simple but in reality & agrave; encloses s & eacute; a truth & agrave; clear, briefly telling me. I started to skate in 6 years in the mists of Como, back when I was ashamed to arrive just in the middle of the track and be seen by the teacher. From simple hobby afternoon, skating & egrave; became my commitment and then my & ldquo; Work & rdquo ;. I started to train in Milan, the last posts of friendly races are passed on to win the regional competitions, the first national youth competitions and 15 years have been part of the Italian National Team. At sixteen I became Italian champion junior and the & rsquo; next year I started to compete in the senior category. I was three times vice-champion Italian senior, I represented the & rsquo; Italy three World Junior Championships, two European and two Winter Universiade. The exponential growth of the commitments and responsibilities & agrave; I have completely changed. You had to change - and quickly. I had to get on track and make me watch, please, feel good, be strong and convincing. Concepts seem very trivial, but it cost me a lot of effort and I will have earned a long journey. In the meantime I studied. I graduated from high school and I enrolled in the faculty & agrave; Economics & Outdoors, universities & agrave ;. Of course, going to the ice rink most of my day in hours of skating, ballet and athletics preprazione I never had the time to attend classes. I think I have only participated in 30% of lessons and this for me & egrave; always been a great disappointment. In the absence of an explanation, I studied alone books, bricks incredible lectures would probably skimmed past the clipboard from my friends and sites intenet economy, in the evening or at night when I did not understand the connection between notes and books. It & rsquo; was very difficult, but there & rsquo s; I did it. I passed 27 exams and last July I graduated in Economics and Business Administration. I shudder to write it now, because & eacute; I even know how to explain where I've got the strength to carry on two projects so & igrave; large at the same time. Only now that I've done, I realize. On the way to the degree I could see was my goal and sacrificing holidays and free time with friends I & egrave; never weighed so much that drove me to pull back. I always got good grades, except in some tests studied in the locker room during the preparation for the European Championships ... My training partners I have always admired for this dupice my dream but unfortunately very few of them have believed or l & rsquo; have shared with me. In the meantime I'm wondering about my future. What do I do with my life? After all, the sport does not last forever, especially when it comes to careers in extreme sports such as figure skating and gymnastics, where the body is squeezed and made the most since et & agrave; very young. I have found my way and I decided to do a master & Outdoors, Foreign in International Management: A very interesting program of two to three years in one of the best universities & agrave; Europe. Admissions are not simple, I started studying for an exam in economics and logic into English, which will allow me & agrave; To have access to these courses very challenging. I know that to undertake a project of this level will have university & ograve; give up my sports career. Because of the timing (which exclude students who have graduated to pi & ugrave, a year from & rsquo; s registration to master) and for the amount of study and work that will have to & ograve; deal with. I'm sorry and I know it will pass & ograve; a difficult time, since & eacute; skating has always been part of my life. But I developed this desire for change and I agreed that my & ldquo; new dream & rdquo ;. I do not want to wait and have accantornare always be my dream job. I want to become a top manager and let & ograve; everything to succeed because & eacute; I feel I have what it takes to make a good career in the world of work. I know that this is a tough business, but I'm not afraid. The sport I built an armor for lanciarmici with confidence. That's why & eacute; Sports & egrave; really a training ground for life, taught me how to optimize the time to organize my team, to manage the energy to endure the stress and responsibility & agrave ;, to overcome injustice, to manage expectations, to give an account of my work is that it was a win or a loss. I passed bad injuries and bad times where hard work seemed to have been spercato, but I never gave up and I learned how to build confidence, even when I had my legs were shaking. I learned to smile in front of audiences and judges even when inside I was dying. I worked with a team of sports psychologists that before testing the World Cup taught me to face the cameras, which have become threats to opportunities & agrave ;. I raced all over Europe and I trained for several months in the United States. I learned how to captivate audiences from different countries and relate with people from all over in the world, whether they were rivals, whether they were judges or fans. From the girl who was struggling to extreme shyness to ask for the bill the waiter I became the girl in the last few years alone, entered the center of the track to represent his country in front of thousands of people. & Egrave; For this reason, I would encourage kids today to take a ritch sports at a high level, to devote his time to something healthy and that will change & agrave; deeply their character, and also strengthened. Dates of fire to burn your ambitions, because & eacute; even when your goals change, the flame will & agrave; always on. Brucer & agrave; more wood, riscalder & agrave; somethin & rsquo; but it will be more & agrave; the engine that will make you & agrave; scale new heights. I was only 23 years old, but I know that to become the woman I want to be in the future I have to start now. I knew this would be my last season and in the summer I would have moved to a new city & agrave; for the next few years, probably Paris, London or Copenhagen, depending on the & rsquo; outcome of admissions. I practiced a lot last summer and I was ready to enjoy the season and give the best races on the schedule. Unfortunately, things turned out differently, I was injured and I had to stop. I did everything to try to shorten the healing time but unfortunately with little improvement. My lesion & egrave; healed recently and in recent workouts, I realized how much the closure period had an impact on my form. The dense strong that I've heard & Outdoors; arrival of my triple I threw a wake & rsquo; alarm. Nonostate have begun taking precautions and the timing of the doctors, I know I should start again with even more & ugrave; calm. Perch & eacute; the tissues are weakened and shortened. The timing & ograve; in short supply. The races that interest me are coming and do not want to take part with half & agrave; my technical knowledge and the fear of feeling bad every time I jump. No doubt I have a chance & agrave; to return to the top of my form, but with prospects of recovering much more & ugrave; long. But having a time limit because of my studies, the two projects do not meet ugrave & pi ;. I leave cos & igrave; my career as a figure skater and I dedicate myself to something else. I am dedicated to my new dream, my plans for the future and I look & rsquo; s time to go for this new adventure. We put & ograve; the same passion and the same commitment that I put in skating and in a few years will make you & ograve; com to know & rsquo; & egrave; gone. I wish the best for the future of the Italian skating and my teammates that will continue & ograve; to follow and encourage. Finally, I ask the Italian Federation of cultivating young talent. To be more & ugrave; present during daily workouts. To arrange meetings whenever possible to help the students to compare their experiences. I, in 8 years of national, I took part in one meeting, the & rsquo; s only one ever organized in recent years. This path & egrave; one & rsquo; s fantastic experience, but also very difficult. Feeling part of a team, a team, feel the & rsquo; s support to people with more & ugrave; experience, can not & ograve; that help. The daily interaction with children who share the same dream and make the same sacrifices & egrave ;, in my opinion, extremely important. Find out race for themselves, but in the name of & ldquo; & rdquo Italian team; you can imagine why & eacute; you & egrave; met in person, I think it would be a whole & rsquo; else. Finally, I thank my coaches who have always believed in me and helped me to realize my dreams on the ice. I thank Cristina Mauri, Raffaella Cazzaniga Corrado Giordani, Mirco Botta Pierre Trente, Fabio Mascarello and all those who have worked with me behind the scenes. Last but not least, my family, who made so many sacrifices for me to fly on the ice, my win and peaks become ambitious and determined girl I am today. Thank you, Frances.
