Closed the "ice" in Cadore for dear bills and drought: the cry of pain of the Alleghe

At the end of September, the Alvise De Toni stadium in Alleghe and the Galvalux Arena in Tai di Cadore closed their doors.

The costs of the bills have become unsustainable for the ice rinks in the Belluno area. In the case of Alleghe, the problem of drought was added to the almost tenfold bills: the scarcity of water did not allow to parry the blow by relying on the nearby and small hydroelectric plant of the Zunaia stream, which did not produce enough energy to cope the consumption. Like the nearby town of a thousand inhabitants, even in Pieve di Cadore there is concern above all about the impact that the closure of the ice rink can have, frequented not only by the historic hockey teams: Alleghe, in the second division, next year celebrates its 90th anniversary, Pieve boasts 70 years of activity and is in the third series. “Our country is a bit poorer - said Adriano Levis, president of the Alleghe - Other companies in the coming weeks risk having the same problem as ours”. The Alleghe Hockey, forced to move to Cortina for the home matches (but with the enormous problem linked to all the youth teams), thus started a fundraiser which, in the space of a few weeks, had an important success . “We saw tears fall, not only from the little faces of the children who had started skating with us for a few months, but also on the cheeks of those parents who had found a safe place for their children in our stadium. We saw them come down from high school kids who, with sacrifice and passion, dedicated the whole summer to preparing for the championship. We have seen them come down to those who have been part of our senior for many years now. We are all upset by this situation, but we all reacted together, rolling up our sleeves. The company reorganized the activity, managing to plan the management of training sessions in the stadiums of other municipalities: the collection of 10,000 euros will allow us to bear the costs for the continuous travels of our athletes ”. You can contribute through the eppela.com website, with a minimum of 5 euros using a VISA or Mastercard credit card or via Google Pay / Apple Pay (or in cash at the Bar Bianco in Alleghe or the Caffè Miniere di Agordo): they are almost 2,500 euros have already been raised.
